This past weekend, I had the pleasure of performing magic at the Pleasant Valley Easter Egg Hunt here in the Hudson Valley, NY. I wanted to share one of the cutest interactions I had with one of the kids chosen to help me with one of the tricks. I know it is cliche to say “kids say the darnedest things,” but they really do….

The trick was the finale of the show, pretending to turn the young man into a bunny before the big reveal of the real bunny at the end. The little boys name was Max. Well, it wasn’t only Max…but for his privacy, I am going to change the rest of his name for this story.

I called the boy up to the stage and asked his name, he proudly responded “I’m Max James Smith, that’s my full name!” Of course, he spoke so quickly and excited, it sounded more like Maxjamith to me. When I had him repeat it, I realized he was giving me first, middle, and last name all in one breath. He repeated,

“I’m Max James Smith, that’s my full name!”

“So nice to meet you, and thank you for helping me with this next trick. Can I call you Max?” I replied.

“No, Max James Smith, that’s my full name,” he reminded me.

He was so cute and so proud of knowing his full name, the crowed (myself included) could not help but to love my new magician’s assistant. The entire time he was on stage, I made sure to refer to him as requested, Max James Smith.

The rest of the trick went very well, but I couldn’t tell what the audience loved more…the bunny at the end, or the amazingly talented Max James Smith 🙂
